Top Shelf Lacquer - I'm Only Happy When It Rains (June Polish Pickup Exclusive)

Hi everyone!

It's been a while again but when I come back, I always come back with a doozy!  Today is PPU day and I have Top Shelf Lacquer's exclusive for the month based on the theme of weather.  Amy, the brand owner, took a little liberty (which I love when it happens) and based this month's colour on the 90s song 'I'm Only Happy When It Rains' by Garbage.  This is a picture heavy post, so I'll get to it.

This polish is described as having a cool minty base, with a pink and blue shimmer, illusion flakes, and glass fleck.  I absolutely love the base colour for this polish.  Depending on lighting and skin tone, it can lean more green or blue.  I would describe it as the same kind of colour you would see in a glacier lake.  The flakes and shimmer and fleck (glass fleck is my hands down favourite finish) just add so much dimension.

I used three really thin coats for full coverage of my nails.  It has a creme-jelly base, so my recommendation is to allow each coat to slightly dry before adding the next coat to prevent any dragging. Amy has really perfected her formula for this type of polish and it quite literally stayed exactly where I put it before spreading over the nail. For me, it dried slightly demi-matte so I added a glossy quick dry top coat to make the shimmer, flakes, and fleck just pop.

'I'm Only Happy When It Rains' will be available from Polish Pickup starting today, June 7th and run until Monday, June 10th. It is not capped and will cost $13USD.

See you all there!

Supernatural Lacquer - Castle of Glass (March LE)

Welcome back! If you popped by last night, you saw that Supernatural Lacquer has a pre-order style restock tonight.  Check out swatches of the Once Upon a Villain Collection (re-imagined) to see what will be available. As well as those beauties, Stefanie always does a monthly limited edition polish as well.  For March, that polish is Castle of Glass (LE).

Castle of Glass

Castle of Glass is described as an indigo-leaning deep blue with multicoloured shifting flakes, green shimmer, and a touch of scattered holo.  This polish is a sure bet for a hit with the blue lovers, flakie lovers, and shimmer lovers.  So, basically everyone.

The longer I am around indie nail polish, the more I learn about which brands' formulas work for me.  Supernatural Lacquer is just one of those brands whose work on her polish has made it so every polish I try is a hit.  I often hear of complaints about bloggers who are only complimentary but I really feel when a brand's maker has put the effort into producing a product that they are proud of, you won't hear negative things because it wouldn't be released if there were problems.  This is how I feel about this brand.  Stefanie's effort to ensure quality is so evident that it sounds almost overly complimentary to read the reviews, but I assure you, it's the truth.  Castle of Glass applied like a dream, the flakes sat flat and shimmered in the base, and opacity was built with just two coats.

Castle of Glass will be available tonight at 9pm est for a cost of $11 USD.  It is a pre-order style restock, so you can take your time in deciding, which is something else I love about SNL.

Supernatural Lacquer - Smizmar (February LE)

It has been -60℃ (-76℉) here for over a week with no end in sight and I am so over winter.  How is it in your neck of the woods? I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that it's warmer than here.  With all this cold and more cold, I am really ready for this season to be over. What better way than with a bright, cheerful shade full of shift, shimmer, and flakes (and not ones made of snow)?  That is exactly what Smizmar by Supernatural Lacquer is.  Keep reading for swatches.

Amy has done it again with a new holiday collection perfect for the upcoming season. 'Get in the Spirit' is a collection that is comprised of 6 blingy, sparkly, holo-y polishes that are sure to match your mood this coming month.

Fiendish Fancies - The Beautiful Creature Collection

Hey world! It's been a hot minute. Welcome to My Lacquer Cabinet 2.0! Back this summer, our home blog was hacked and we have been fighting to regain access ever since.  In the meantime, this blog will be used as a place holder and once we get MLC back up to its former glory, all posts here will be transferred over!
I am so excited to share today's post with you all. This collection comes from one of my favourite brands, Fiendish Fancies, and Lara is back with a set that will make you weak in the knees. Fiendish Fancies has partnered with Fox Searchlight Pictures for the Canadian Release of Guillermo del Toro’s latest film, THE SHAPE OF WATER.
